So, you want to know some more about the crazy girl who decided to speed read business books?
Here we go...I am an avid reader (DUH!), runner/exercise-centered, food-focused (see previous...I pray it balances out), country music lover (can you believe it y'all?), over-achiever type-A...oh hell...I am just a girl who can read pretty darn fast. Oh, I have a sense of humor...you may find it hanging around.
Blog purpose
You know those bookcases full of … I know this is a stretch … unread BOOKS? Well, so do I. The funny thing is that a couple years back, I took a speed reading course. And let me tell you, what I learned really, really works. No kidding! I have used my skills mostly in work and academic pursuits, but not for my personal-development-good-for-the-soul books. So, I figured why not?
Why would anyone subject themselves to reading all those boring books about business, entrepreneurship, finance, and economics? Egads! Did you just say self-help books? Are you kidding me?

Story behind the blog
In 2007, I decided to go back to school to get my Master's Degree. I don't know what your MS program was like, but my program decided 1,200 pages per week for 4 classes seemed about right. Yeah right! I didn't have enough hours in the week to read that much material.
My dad (bless him) suggested I look to see if there was a speed reading course in my area. Well, there really wasn't, but I was desperate. I signed up and drove 5-hours to the closest course.
My life changed that weekend! I increased my reading speed 27 times. Yeah, you just read that correctly. What does that mean in numbers? Before the course, I was reading 493 words per minute (wpm). I strolled out of that course clocking in at 13,200 wpm.
I know, I know...you are thinking what do you actually remember? I test out with a comprehension of 83 to 85% on my first read. Not too shabby.
Master's degree? Yeah, I rocked that!
